I forgot my vow and dedication towards God while going through the challenging, competitive education system in Korean Culture. I thought at first that it was 'my' mysteriously hidden passion. Have your heard of the important words Grace of God? And Prevenient Grace? Since then our second son, Owen, has been born and is enriching our family beyond measure. In the summer of 2014 my wife Carrie, my son Hans and I moved to Appleton and I started my time as the new senior pastor here at First UMC. I was ordained in 2008 and have served as a senior pastor of Community UMC in Waterford from 2010-2014. So far I have served part time at the Johnson Creek UMC and as solo pastor at the Waterloo UMC. We both started serving churches in Wisconsin in 2004. This is where I met my wife Carrie. I moved to the United States in 2004, when I got married. In 2001, I went to embark on an abroad adventure and enrolled at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois for one year. I was active in various congregations of the Reutlingen area and served as a seminary intern in an inner city church of Berlin, Germany. I loved being active in the community and my Methodist home church, participating and leading in ministries such as the brass band, the youth group and the young adult choir. I experienced a call into full time ministry in my late teens.Īfter graduating from college and a year of mandatory federal social service I entered my pastoral education. I served as pastoral intern for one year in four congregations in the Stuttgart, Germany area and then transitioned into the seminary years at the Theological school of the United Methodist Church in Reutlingen, Germany. I was born in the Black Forest area of South Germany and grew up in the Black Forest city of Freudenstadt . Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.Director of Children and Family Ministries.We have a number of ladies who are gifted at flower arranging and, most Sundays, there is a wonderful display of flowers which are then distributed to those who are ill or in need of a 'lift' that a bouquet of flowers brings. From homemade cakes at Thirsty For? and some of the coffee mornings, to bar-b-que's, afternoon tea, and occassional lunches. Look out for other occassions when we serve pancakes and brunches at special coffee mornings. Whenever there is a special event (and sometimes when there's not) there's always plenty of wonderful food on offer. There's always someone to talk to who will make you feel welcome. If you're unsure of walking into a crowded church, as a new face, pop along to one of our monthly coffee mornings first. I dare you to come along and prove us wrong! Everyone is made welcome at Belfairs and new friends soon become old friends. Whatever the occassion there is always plenty of fellowship, fun and laughter at Belfairs. We cater for those who just want / need to sit around for a chat with Coffee Mornings and House groups to the more active with our Badminton Club.īelfairs is also known for the four "F's" - Fellowship, Fun, Flowers & Food. There is something going on at Belfairs for everyone, from our Parent & Toddler Group, through 10 O'clock club, Girls' & Boys Brigades, to A.C.T.I.O.N group. I look forward to learning and sharing with you during my time here at Belfairs Methodist Church. I also like puzzles, classical music and learning new things especially about Science and Geography. I like most sports and am considered to be competitive. I love walking although nowadays it more limited in scope from when I was younger. We have 3 children all married and 6 grandchildren ( although one is now an adult). My wife Linda and I both were born and raised in Portsmouth and have been married for 49years. Prior to becoming a Minister, I worked for over 20 years as Senior Mechanical Services Design Engineer primarily on medium to large building projects. In addition to Circuit Ministry, I was a part time Prison Chaplain for 8years and District Synod Secretary for 5 years. Since retirement in 2015, I have assisted this Circuit as a cover for shortfalls, all in a part time capacity. I am a retired Methodist Minister (called a Supernumerary) after 25 years as an active Minister in a wide variety of situations. "Where old friends meet and strangers feel at home. ![]()
